What is free and what costs money

There is no tier ladder here and no upsell sequence. The study material is free to read in full, without an account. Exactly one thing costs money, and it costs $29 once.

That is the entire price list for this site. If you never buy the bank, nothing here closes off or expires.

What the $29 unlocks

One payment unlocks the AIGP question bank on your account, and it stays unlocked.

• 229 questions written for this site, including a 100-question exam-style set you can sit end to end under timed conditions.
• Worked explanations for the correct answer and for why each plausible wrong answer fails. That second part is where most of the learning actually happens.
• Progress tracking by domain, so you can see which module is dragging your score down instead of guessing.
• Lifetime access to the AIGP bank for the account that bought it, including any questions and corrections added later.
• One account across the three guides, so the same login carries your progress on the CIPP/E, AIGP and CIPP/US sites.

Question banks are bought per certification. Unlocking the AIGP bank does not unlock the CIPP/E or CIPP/US banks.

One payment, not a subscription

The bank is unlocked with a single payment of $29 in US dollars. There is no renewal, no annual fee, no seat licence and no card kept on file by this site for a future charge. Payment is handled by Onelink as merchant of record, so full card details never reach us. The charge appears on your statement as LINK.COM, and any sales tax, VAT or GST is added by Onelink at checkout according to where you are.

What lifetime means, precisely. It means for as long as this site continues to operate that question bank. It is not a promise that the internet lasts forever, and it would be dishonest to pretend otherwise. What it does rule out is a second invoice for the same bank.

One account, three sites. The same login works on the CIPP/E, AIGP and CIPP/US guides and your progress follows you between them. Each certification's bank is still bought separately.

What the IAPP charges, and where the $29 sits

The exam fee is the one cost you cannot avoid, and it is paid to the IAPP rather than to this site. Everything else is a decision you get to make. The figures below are the prices published on iapp.org at the time of writing.

Live online and in-person AIGP training are priced higher than the self-paced course and vary by session and location. Prices change, so check iapp.org for current pricing before you budget.

Training is optional rather than mandatory. The IAPP's own certification FAQs say that training is not required in order to sit the exam and that no single paid resource is required to pass it, while its certification process page recommends a minimum of 30 hours of study per certification, however you choose to spend those hours. There are real cases where the official course is the better buy, and they are set out in full on the official-training comparison page.

Against all of that, this site charges nothing for the notes and $29 once for the questions. It is an independent study aid meant to sit alongside the official body of knowledge, not to stand in for it. It is not affiliated with, authorised by, endorsed by or connected to the IAPP, and AIGP, CIPP/E and CIPP/US are trademarks of the IAPP used here descriptively.

How this compares with other AIGP question banks

As checked on 17 August 2026: aigptest.com advertises a larger bank of 1,000+ questions, sold as timed access windows - $19.95 for 48 hours, $49.95 for 7 days, $129.95 for 6 weeks. The 229 questions here are a different bet: every one hand-written against the current AIGP body of knowledge and mapped to the module it tests, for one $29 payment with lifetime access. If raw volume on a deadline matters more to you than mapping and keeping it, that alternative exists.

Refunds, cancellation and your consumer rights

The study materials are published by THESMIOS LTD, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17150638. The payment itself is sold through Onelink, which acts as merchant of record for the transaction.

Your statutory rights. You are buying digital content as a consumer. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for its purpose and as described. Nothing on this page or in the terms can remove or reduce those rights.

The 14-day right and the immediate-access waiver. Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you would normally have 14 days to cancel a digital purchase. Because the question bank unlocks the moment you pay, checkout asks you to tick an acknowledgement that you want supply to begin straight away and that you lose the 14-day cancellation right once it has begun. That acknowledgement is recorded against your order. If you do not in fact get immediate access, the cancellation right still applies.

If something goes wrong. If the bank does not unlock, or the content is faulty or not as described, email hello@thesmios.com and it will be put right in good faith, which may mean a fix, a replacement, a price reduction or a refund depending on the problem. Billing and payment queries, including refunds, can also go to Onelink support as merchant of record. The detail is in the terms of use and sale.

Who should not buy the question bank

Some honest disqualifiers, because a refund request is worse for both of us than a sale that never happened.

• Anyone who has not read the free notes yet. Questions test recall you have not built yet. Read first, drill second. Start with the study guide.
• Anyone who needs official courseware or CPE credits. This site provides neither. Buy from the IAPP.
• Anyone hoping for leaked or real exam questions. Every question here is original and written from the published body of knowledge. Nobody legitimate sells actual exam items.
• Anyone who wants a tutor. There is no instructor, no cohort and no marking service attached to the bank.
• Anyone not sitting the AIGP. Banks are per certification, so buy the one matching the exam you have booked.
• Anyone expecting a guaranteed pass. No study aid can promise that. The IAPP sets, runs and marks the exam, and this site has no involvement in it.
